David Hasselhoff is the Devil

"Why David Hasselhoff?" you ask. Why not?

It's been well documented that:

He has even less musical talent than John Tesh... His television shows are unwatchable... and yet He's one of the world's most popular stars... how has He done it?

I submit David Hasselhoff is the AntiChrist.

Caution: Hasselhoff's evil influence has placed a rude word or two in this Deedlecast.

Just Justin

What?! A Deedlecast entirely devoted to that second-rate talent, Justin Timberlake. The N-Sync guy? Teenage girls rejoice. Well, mash him up with other mediocre talents like Debbie Harry, Fergie, Robert Palmer, and Corey Hart, and you certainly get more than the sum of their rather talentless parts.

Warning: Justin uses a rude term in this Deedlecast. But then, what do you expect?

A Little Confusion

Willie Nelson, U-2, Pussycat Dolls, INXS, Henry Belafonte, the Bangles, the Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Eminem, Shakira, C&C Music Factory, Johnny Cash, Will Smith, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Isaak . . . What in the world are they doing in one place, let alone the same songs? This is truly confused. Trust your dj, though, it works!

She Blinded Me With Saturday All Night Long

Thanks to all the loyal Deedlecasters who came out to the Duplex last night. The event was quite a success, and Eric, the owner of the Duplex, has decided to make Deedlecast Live a regular event. I'll keep you posted on dates and times.

This song is a mashup single (Thomas Dolby v. Blowoff) I put together to be the night's "Saturday Song." As many of you know, whenever the Saturday Song plays, Eric passes out a free round of tasty shots.

The many requests to post this single mashup occasion this off-Friday post.

Stay tuned to this space for details of what will be regular episodes of Deedle at the Duplex.

Special thanks to Douglas for designing the new DJDeedle logo.

Into Space

According to NASA, November of 1982 was the first operational mission of the space shuttle. At that time, the space shuttle, Columbia, deployed two satellites.

DJDeedle honors this auspicious date 24 years ago with this space-themed Deedlecast.

Caution: Some of those astronauts have some colorful language.

DJ Troubleshoot Test

Live performance DJs bear the awesome responsibility of maintaining seemless quality sound, keeping an eye on all the tracks, channels, levels, volume, pan, fade, reverb, frequencies, gain, amplification, equalizers, etc., while at the same time making sure everyone is having a good time.

This week's Deedlecast give you a taste of the difficulties often encountered when an errant frequency exists in the system while the party continues.

Make sure to stop by the Duplex Diner this Sunday, November 12, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, for DJDeedle's first live Deedlecast. It's not to be missed!

Deedlecast, friends, and a refreshing cocktail or two: the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Return of the Beat

The beat never really leaves Deedlecast. Like a heartbeat, it's necessary to keep Deedlecast alive. This week, DJDeedle puts a stethescope to the heart of Deedlecast to amplify that beat. The beat should not be confused with the groove, and the groove with the beat. It's most important not to allow the beat to drown out the groove. As always, DJDeedle strives to keep the beat beating and the groove grooving.

The Horror

Welcome to the frights and sounds of the first All Hallows Eve Deedlecast. Don't be afraid, you are not alone. Count Morbida and his lovely companion, Horribella, will be with you all the time. So will Sisqo, Michael Jackson, Vincent Price, Shannon, The Chordettes, Credence Clearwater Revival, and a host of others. Lots of horror movie tunes here.

And yes, that is the very eerie song from "the Shining" - "Midnight, the Stars and You," performed by the Ray Noble Orchestra.

DJDeedle's evil plan would have worked if not for those pesky kids.

The Last Mile

With the race just a couple of weeks away, your dj's thoughts have turned to the Marine Corps Marathon. 26 miles sounds like a long way. And believe me, it is.

But with the right tunes -- fast tempo when you need a push or slower when you want a break -- the time just flies by and the feet keep moving. DJDeedle presents another of the many mixes that keep his mind off his feet and knee joints. DJDeedle promises this is his last word on the marathon.

Programming Notes:

Prepare to be terrified next week for DJDeedle's Halloween Deedlecast.

Also, stay tuned for dates and times for DJDeedle's Sunday afternoon show in November at Washington, DC's finest diner, the Duplex.

A Word from Our Sponsor

Don't worry, Deedlecast has not sold out and gone commercial. Rather, this week's show features mashups of hits from the 1960s and 1970s, interspersed with authentic radio commercials from 1963. DJDeedle thanks UBUWeb's 365 Day Project for collecting these commercial gems.

Deedlecast does not endorse Maxwell House Coffee, Yellow Cab, or any of the other products or companies featured in the advertisements.

Noise of Art

Art does not have to be pretty, nor does it have to be quiet. This Deedlecast certainly is neither. Also, I'm certain this is not what Justin Timberlake has in mind when he talks about bringing sexy back.

Kelley Clarkson, AC/DC, Pink, Genesis, Skinny Puppy . . . plus those singing strippers, the Pussycat Dolls. This could get downright ugly.

Do Your Thing

This week's Deedlecast is a collection of toe-tappers to help you to do your thing, whatever your "thing" may be. This Deedlecast contains two very different mashups of Christina Aguilera's recent hit, "Ain't No Other Man."

DJDeedle hopes this Deedlecast brings new life to your thing.

Warning: This Deedlecast contains a rude word. Also, you may experience temporary trouble with your London Bridge.

Purple Prince

Put on your raspberry beret, hop into your little red corvette, and party like it's 1999. The prince of pop gets mashed and mixed on this week's Deedlecast.

Caution: This podcast contains a rude word (or two rude words, depending on how sensitive to rude words you happen to be).

Dash and Daring-Do

Now that we've cleared the Muppets out of our system, it's time to return to a different kind of fun from the 1980s.

With appropriate levels of dash and daring-do, this Deedlecast features mashups of your favorites from 80s music icons Kenny Loggins, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears, Toto, Prince, Pat Benatar, and Duran Duran.

Note: This Deedlecast also contains a nice treat for fans of "Kill Bill."

The Muppets have taken over Deedlecast Studios this week. After we have the exterminators in, and clean out all the Muppet poo, we'll return to our regular programming.
In the meantime, enjoy our most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational Deedlecast.

It Would Be, It Would Be So Nice

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life, It would be, it would be so nice
--Mrs. Guy Richie
So nice, indeed. As you take your one day out of life to celebrate this holiday weekend, enjoy this week's Deedlecast, devoted to Sean Penn's ex-wife, Madonna.
It's the patriotic thing to do. Remember, if you don't listen to Deedlecast, the terrorists have won!

All Politics Are Local

Living in Washington, DC makes one a political animal whether one likes it or not. On Saturday, your dj and the Long-Suffering One attended a meet-and-greet for Marie Johns, candidate for DC mayor. If you happen to be lucky enough to be a DC resident, and are confused about who you'd like to vote for (since everyone in the city seems to be running this time), you might want to give Marie Johns a look.
Like most sensible people, I'm generally skeptical about anyone who wants to be mayor of DC. But after meeting her, and talking to her (the people at the meet and greet -- including me -- really grilled her), I think Ms. Johns stands head and shoulders above Fenty, Cropp, and the rest.
Fenty has no experience, and Cropp acts like it's her turn to be mayor. Orange, Brown, and all the rest don't have single new idea between them. I was impressed with Johns' considerable experience, dedication to the city, and her eagerness to answer frankly the tough questions on crime, the income gap, affordable housing, public health, HIV/AIDS, marriage equality, locally-owned business, and homelessness that we put to her. (See, I told you we grilled her) She seems to have real ideas and plans, not the polished and carefully crafted soundbites that you usually get from politicians. She also doesn't change her answers based on whether she's talking to 40 gay men at a cocktail party or a congregation at an African American church.
I know this sounds like a commercial, but I really was impressed. I urge you to stop by Ms. Johns' website and learn about her.

http://www.johnsformayor.com/

Oh, and by the way, she's funny too.

Deedlecast returns to its regular musical format on Friday, just in time for the holiday.
